Pottsville Hometown Heroes Banner Program Application

The City of Pottsville's 2025 Hometown Heroes banner program honors military service members from the city with 24"×48" banners displayed on city streets from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. Sponsors can apply by submitting an application, photo, military documentation, and $200 fee by February 28, 2025.

About the Hometown Heroes Banners

  • Banners are 24" wide and 48" high, displayed on streets throughout the City
  • Displayed yearly from Memorial Day through Veterans Day
  • Sponsorship cost: $200 for families, individuals, civic organizations, and businesses
  • Banners are available to sponsors upon request
  • Banner placement is at the discretion of the City of Pottsville

How to Apply

  • Application deadline: February 28, 2025
  • Required: Completed application form, original photo, photocopy of military discharge or current Military ID card (front and back), and check or money order
  • Make payment payable to: The City of Pottsville Hometown Heroes
  • Cash payments accepted only at City Hall—do not mail cash
  • Applications available at City Hall (401 North Centre Street, Pottsville) or at www.city.pottsville.pa.us

Ways to Support the Program

Anyone may purchase or sponsor a banner provided the application, military documentation, and payment are submitted. Contributions toward the program are also accepted. A dedication ceremony takes place during the annual Memorial Day observance at Garfield Square, and all honored service members are acknowledged in the ceremony program book.

  • Cold War: September 2, 1945 – December 26, 1991
  • Persian Gulf: August 2, 1990 – August 31, 1991
  • Vietnam Era: February 28, 1961 – May 7, 1975
  • Korean Conflict Era: June 27, 1950 – January 31, 1955
  • World War II Era: December 7, 1941 – December 31, 1946
  • World War I Era: April 6, 1917 – November 11, 1918
